HAUNTED HOUSEMATES (2025) - Proof of Concept - Dark Comedy

“Haunted Housemates” is a dark comedy POC short film by writer/director Zara Goodman, marking her directorial debut under GenZara Productions. The film blends supernatural elements and sharp social satire into a witty and emotionally resonant coming-of-age story set against Brisbane’s distinctive cultural backdrop.

Exploring privilege, identity, and belonging, Haunted Housemates uses humour and the supernatural to examine modern young adulthood. Featuring ghosts and other paranormal themes, it is a dark comedy that approaches mature subjects such as life, death, and the afterlife with irreverence and depth.

Due to legal issues, Haunted Housemates was unfortunately unable to screen at festivals or be released publicly; however, it remains available to view privately via link for future collaborators or interested parties. Please feel free to contact Zara directly.

SAINTS AND SLAYERS - Series - Fantasy Drama

With the desire to see a Gen Z women-led urban fantasy on her own TV screen, Zara Goodman began developing the fantasy drama television series Saints and Slayers.

Saints and Slayers follows two young women, best friends, who train to slay demons in a world marked by political upheaval and an ever-present war between good and evil. As they fight the forces of darkness, they must confront their own inner battles and discover that true victory lies in light, love, and faith.

Buffy the Vampire Slayer meets Supernatural in this series that explores female friendship, identity, university life, trauma, addiction, self-love, healing, forgiveness, and restoration. Created by a woman for women, Saints and Slayers speaks directly to Gen Z audiences, reminding them that though we each battle darkness in our own way, we can overcome it through light, unity, and hope. Zara is currently in the process of drafting the pilot for the series.
